Workshop#1 was presented by Milly Burrows (LICSW, CEIS), Family Partnerships and Mental Health Manager at Associates for Human Services (AHS).

Domestic Violence is not just something that happens between two adults.  Children are also significantly affected.  In light of medical and scientific advances that allow us to better examine brain activity we are now beginning to understand the influences of prenatal exposure to violence.  This workshop will explore the effects of the trauma of domestic violence on the developing brain and its impact on children’s social emotional health.  It will include the videotape “Breaking Peaces” which illustrates the unborn child’s perspective.  Discussion will follow.
